Renault 4

The Renault 4 was an economy hatchback produced from 1961-1992. It was actually the first front wheel drive, family size model produced by the company and was powered by a number of four cylinder engines with varying displacements. These engines were mated to either a 3- or 4-speed manual transmission.

Growing competition and stricter emissions standards and safety legislations eventually led to the demise of the Renault 4 in 1992 when the company produced one last string of units called the Bye Bye editions.
